Shaving and Beard Care in London

If you are in London, it is worth visiting the famous classic barbershops in the St. James's district. A new world will open up to you. The world of Britishness, tradition, and timeless elegance.

In this district, you will still encounter the typical British gentleman with his unmistakable umbrella and bowler hat. Here you will find the best restaurants, tailors, and world-renowned hairdressers. These barbershops all have their own range of shaving soaps, aftershave balms, beard care, shaving brushes, razors, and fantastic colognes and men's perfumes.

Truefitt & Hill

Near Buckingham Palace on St. James's Street, you step into the oldest barbershop in the world, Truefitt & Hill. This fantastic brand has existed since 1805. Famous customers of Truefitt and Hill included Winston Churchill, Charles Dickens, Montgomery, Oscar Wilde, Hitchcock, John Wayne, Fred Astaire, and Cary Grant.

The titles of the various product lines refer to glorious historical events, places, and figures, such as Trafalgar, Apsley, Grafton, and Mayfair. The most popular scent and product line are the sandalwood shaving products and cologne. The scents of the shaving soaps, aftershave balms, and colognes are classic, timeless, elegant, and manly. Truefitt and Hill offers complete care for the gentleman, such as beautiful classic razors, badger hair shaving brushes, and complete shaving sets.

DR Harris

Also on St. James's Street, you will find DR Harris. This shop looks more like a chemist’s pharmacy than a barbershop. DR Harris was founded in 1790 by surgeon Henry Harris and apothecary Daniel Rotely (D. R.). It is the oldest pharmacy in London and holds the title of 'Royal Warrant Holder' from His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen.

The range consists of shaving products and traditional care products for men, such as shaving soaps, shaving creams, aftershaves, eau de colognes, beard oil, and skin care products. The well-known and popular scent lines are Arlington, Marlborough, and Windsor. DR Harris also has an extensive sandalwood line.

Taylor of Old Bond Street

Near St. James, you have Jermyn Street. In this street stands the shop of Taylor of Old Bond Street. Taylor of Old Bond Street was founded in 1854 during the reign of Queen Victoria. It is a family business now run by the third generation.

Taylor of Old Bond Street has the most extensive range of shaving creams. These shaving products are mildly to robustly scented and have recognizable traditional scents, such as Sandalwood, Oud, Tobacco, Lime Zest, Almond, Cedarwood, and Coconut. The Eton College, Jermyn Street, and Sandalwood shaving products are bestsellers. For sensitive skin, there is also a neutral shaving cream.

Floris

In Jermyn Street, you also have the splendid shop of Floris. In 1730, Juan Famenias Floris, originally from Menorca, opened his barbershop. At the end of the 18th century, his son Robert developed the original formula for their first perfume: Limes. Since 1818, thanks to King George IV, Floris has also been a Warrant Holder to the British royal household.

Floris is known for the most exclusive men's scents, colognes, and perfumes. The artisanal perfumers of Floris develop fantastic scent lines, such as No. 89, Elite, and Santal.
