Why buy a shaving soap?
A good shaving soap makes a foam that lasts a long time on the skin, retains water and does not dry out quickly. It makes the beard hairs softer and softer. This makes shaving easier and more comfortable. A soap also makes a full and creamy shaving cream. The shaving foam provides a thin protective lubricating film on the skin. This protects the skin from the razor . Finally, shaving soaps are greasy; the added fats and oils nourish and care for the skin while shaving. This ensures fewer razor burns during and after shaving.
How do you use a shaving soap?
Apply shaving soap with warm water and a shaving brush. Wet your shaving brush with lukewarm water. You can get extra shaving foam by wetting the soap beforehand. Stir the shaving brush over the soap and apply the shaving cream to your face. Beard hairs are as hard as copper wires, but beard hairs also absorb water; so take your time. Lather the shaving foam on the face with the shaving brush for at least one minute. This softens the beard hairs, making it easier to shave. In addition, it reduces shaving irritations.
Which soap should you buy?
Shaving soaps have a hard composition and are usually in a container or shaving bowl. The main ingredients are glycerin, vegetable oils or animal fats, such as coconut oil, jojoba oil or shea butter. Most contain vegetable oils. It produces a full and stable shaving foam and remains moist for a long time. There are scented and unscented soaps. Do you have dry or sensitive skin? Then use a neutral and unscented product with extra caring ingredients, such as lanolin or shea butter. Popular scented shaving soaps contain sandalwood, lavender, menthol, eucalyptus or citrus.
The classic English shaving products are very popular. These are often supplied in a beautiful luxurious wooden shaving bowl and have classic, recognizable men's scents. Worldwide there are more and more small family businesses that produce unique shaving soaps. More and more men are buying these traditionally produced shaving products with special scents.
Which soap should you not buy?
Bad shaving soaps are highly alkaline, do not make good shaving foam, the shaving foam dries up quickly and these shaving soaps have a dehydrating effect. This means that these shaving soaps do not sufficiently protect the skin, dry it out, damage it and irritate it. The cheap supermarket and drugstore shaving products in particular are very aggressive. Many men who use these shaving soaps suffer from dry, tight skin or a burning sensation after shaving. In addition, these shaving products can damage and break the bristles of the shaving brush. Do you recognize these complaints? Then immediately throw the product in the trash.
Which brands sell shaving soap?
The well-known shaving brands all sell shaving soap. The Italian Acca Kappa has a beautiful soap with Almond oil. The Belgian Baume.be only sells shaving products especially for sensitive skin. The major classic English shaving brands DR Harris, Taylor of Old Bond Street and Truefitt and Hill have various shaving soaps. The Sandalwood fragrance line from these brands is very popular.
