Many men prefer to shave with this razor. It shaves more pleasantly, prevents ingrown hairs, and the razor blades are more affordable than the modern expensive Gillette razor blades.
What should you pay attention to when purchasing a safety razor?
Safety razors with a closed comb are the most common razors. Suitable for the beginner shaver and shaving light to normal beard growth. Also suitable for sensitive skin. Razors with an open comb shave a bit more directly or 'aggressively'. These are suitable for the experienced shaver and shaving normal to heavy (coarse beard hairs) beard growth. The razor with a butterfly closure has a light shaving head and is suitable for light beard growth. With the safety razor with an adjustable shaving head, the cutting angle of the double edge razor blade and the 'gap' (= opening of the shaving head) can be adjusted. For me this was my first introduction to Classic De Shaeren. Quality of the scraper is super, very nicely finished. What I disappointed in this scraper and execution has been in particular the shaving itself, and the smooth handle. So if you are interested in this type, I would choose another handle. Shaving went nice in itself, but needed quite a lot of movements to achieve a good result. It is absolutely recommended to use sharp blades in this scraper. With a medium knife it is very difficult to get a good result. I finally switched to a slanted scratch, and with that I am (stays personal of course) a lot faster, easier and with a better result! As the first scraper it was a great choice, virtually no wounds in the early days.
